Jeff Michelman from the Rotary Club of Jacksonville Oceanside was chosen by the Nominating Committee to be the District Governor for Rotary International District 6970 for the years 2022-23. Jeff has an outstanding record of service in our District. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Oceanside since 1996 and served as President in 2016-17.

Jeff has also worked tirelessly for the past two years as District Polio Chair and has personally shown his commitment TWICE by bicycling the grueling 100-mile Arizona Ride to End Polio to raise funds personally for the cause.  Jeff and his wife Maureen participated in a National Immunization Day (NID) in India in 2019. Jeff chaired the district Global Grants in Education committee. He has also served as Assistant Governor for the past three years and helped found the Town Center Rotaract Club in 2018, and UNF Rotaract Club in 2010 as well as chair of PETS Rotaract. He is a recipient of Oceanside Rotary’s David Harrill Service Award in 2019. Jeff is a member of the Paul Harris Society, Bequest Society and a Major Donor.

Jeff Michelman is a Professor of Accounting at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida, where he has been on the faculty for the past thirty years. He is a past recipient of the University of North Florida’s outstanding awards for Research, Graduate and Undergraduate Teaching, Faculty Service and International Service. Jeff is the 2009 Recipient of the Coggin College of Business’s Distinguished Professor Award. Dr. Michelman is both a CPA and CMA. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Delaware in accounting and economics, his M.H.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and both an MBA. and a Ph.D. degree in business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jeff has published articles in a variety of information systems, accounting, international business and healthcare journals. He has taught abroad including as a Visiting Scholar at the University of the South Pacific and currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Warsaw.

Jeff served as a member of the national HFMA’s Accounting Principles and Practices Board and was President of the Florida Chapter of the HFMA and received HFMA’s Medal of Honor in 2006. Jeff is a graduate of the duPont Foundation’s Community Coachs program and Leadership Jacksonville where he served as Chairman of the Youth Leadership Jacksonville Council as well as a member of the Leadership Jacksonville Board of Directors and executive committee. Jeff lives in Atlantic Beach with his wife Maureen.
