The far reaching impact the TPC has on our community.

Troy Smith is the 2021 Tournament Chairman for THE PLAYERS Championship. In this role, Smith oversees all volunteer committees and divisions at the PGA TOUR’s flagship event. In addition, he represents THE PLAYERS at various speaking engagement opportunities in Northeast Florida throughout the year, educating the public on the championship and explaining how their support enables THE PLAYERS to positively impact lives in the five-county area. 2021 will mark Smith’s eleventh year as a volunteer at THE PLAYERS. Prior to being named Tournament Chairman, he held leadership positions on multiple committees, including: General Parking, Ecology, Commissary, VIP Parking, Benefactor and Volunteer Shuttle.

Smith is a partner at the law firm Burr & Forman, where he is a member of the firm's Construction and Project Development practice group, focusing on complex commercial litigation within the construction industry. He is a Florida Bar Certified Construction Attorney and has been named a Florida Super Lawyer (2007, 2009-Present); a Top 100 Super Lawyer in Florida (2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018) as well as a Florida Trend Legal Elite attorney (2008, 2010 – Present).  He was recently named one of the Best Lawyers in America for Construction Law (2020). Smith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his juris doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law.

In addition to his involvement with THE PLAYERS, Smith is a board member at Palmer Catholic Academy and has previously served on several other boards in Northeast Florida, including Learn to Read Jacksonville, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and president of the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division as well as president of the Jacksonville Bar.  He lives in Ponte Vedra Beach with his wife, Jenni, and their six kids.
